Ichwan Noor is a sculpture artist born in 1963, based in Yogyakarta. Upon receiving education in Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Ichwan Noor later became the institute’s lecturer. Ichwan Noor’s works which gained him international recognition is the Beetle Sphere series- where he transformed the 1953 VW Beetle into a sphere. As a sculptor, Ichwan Noor generates three-dimensional objects into new composition, the materials he uses are mainly resin, copper, aluminium, steel, wood, and found objects. In his creation, Ichwan Noor combines all these elements from the outside, whether it's sculpting them, or casting them.
