This sculpture is Anton Subiyanto’s expression of how flowers are a symbol for devotion, devotion towards the love of our lives. The phrase ‘Devotion’ originated from the Latin word ‘Devotio’ (from the verb ‘Devovere’) which means faithfulness, sacrifice, surrender, vow, godlines, service, and love. In Javanese Catholic tradition, devotion and all its forms point to how one’s heart moves, how it's devoted to who or what they loved or held in the highest regard.
